Wine Glasses

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

The growing trend of popularity of wine has led to a boom in things to go with wine like corkscrews, stoppers, coolers, napkins, pouring baskets, decanters, candles, thermometers, bottle jackets, hydrometers and dozens of variations of each accessory from electric versions to manual ones. Needless to say, a lot of these accessories will be used until the novelty wears off and then left at the back of the cupboard.

However, there is one category of wine drinking accessory that no wine drinker should be without and that is wine glasses. They are essential, I am sure that everyone would agree. But the good thing about wine glasses is that they are attractive when they are not in use too. A set of six lead crystal wine glasses is a fine-looking sight. And a fine set of glasses correctly shaped for the wine you are drinking will greatly enhance your enjoyment of that wine.

This is because the shape of the glass is very influential on the drinker’s ability to savour the taste and the aroma of wine. Therefore, it is essential to use the correct glasses for the type of wine being served.

Red wines gain a lot from contact with air, so, aside from opening the bottle an hour before drinking it, you could decant it. The older and heavier the wine, the more air it must have. The next step is to serve the red wine in large glasses. This is not so as to be able to get as much wine in there as possible! A full, normal size bottle contains six servings no matter what glass you use, but a large glass allows you to swirl the wine around the glass, thereby increasing its contact with air.

A large tulip shaped glass is a good example of this kind of wine glass and any dark red wine would benefit from being drunk out of such a vessel. Try a Rioja or Bordeaux, for instance.

White wines, on the other hand, do not need to breathe for as long as red wines and are best served slightly chilled. Therefore, the wine glasses are likely to have a smaller bowl and a longer stem. The bowl is smaller, because swirling is not necessary and the stem is longer, so that the heat from your hand does not warm the wine up prematurely. Try a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon or a German wine in these glasses.

Champagne glasses are called champagne flutes because the bowl is long and narrow, which allows the bubbles to float through more of the wine than if the bowl were short. This is beneficial for the wine, the taste and its appearance. The stem is also long as with other white wines to diminish heat transference.

The last major type of glass is the sherry schooner, which is also used for port. Sherry and port are both heavy reds and so need to breathe, which is one of the reasons why they ought to be decanted. However, a schooner has hardly any stem, because the heat from your hand is required to keep the wine at the right temperature.

Besides the shape of the bowl and the length of the stem, the next most significant factor is the quality of the glass and its design. Some people like hand-blown glass and it can be very beautiful, but it also tends to be light and fragile. I prefer to use lead crystal glasses, which are a lot heavier and can take a deeper pattern.

Health And Finance In Dreams

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

A main concern we’re all very much aware of is our hope to be physically fit to be able to rely on our stamina and energy to work and work effectively. In dreams, symbols of work are any object, person or tool that resembles connections to work, our attitudes, job satisfaction, concerns, job security, salary increases and well being to work.

A man I know had the following dream. At the time of the dream, he was in good health, a professional earning 100K a year. His life was good; that is, until the night he had a dream that ultimately would change his life forever.

The dream opens with the man walking on a sidewalk near his apartment. This was the regular path he’d walked for years. Turning the corner up the block towards his apartment, he was compelled to look down at his hands. Holding his hands up, he saw his hands quickly begin to take on a different appearance: His hands began to tighten into a fist. As his hands continued to close, they took on a crippled, disfigured look.

Alarmed, he tried to straighten them. Unable to move his fingers, he put his hands into the pockets of the sweat suit he was wearing thinking everything would be all right shortly. As he placed his hands into the pockets of the sweat suit, he realized there were no pockets, only openings. Placing his hands into the openings, he walked down the sidewalk for 20 feet. Having difficulty composing himself, he took his hands out of the openings hoping they would be normal. To his dismay, his hands were now deformed, and he felt severe pain shooting down his wrists through his hands up to his fingertips.

Becoming alarmed, he stared focused on his hands. The harder he tried to focus, the more blurred his vision became until he couldn’t see the image of his hands. As he tried to adjust his vision, he now felt a sharp pain in his forehead that nearly sent him to his knees. Overtaken by the experience, the man stopped, sitting down on some leaves under a tree on the front lawn of a neighbor’s house. As he began to close his eyes, he felt a gentle breeze blowing the leaves away from him and across the lawn.

On the verge of terror, he reached into the opening of his sweat pants, grabbed a hold of his wallet containing his driver’s license, money and medical insurance card in the event his condition worsened. Opening the wallet, he found the wallet empty, holding only a medical insurance card. Fumbling with the wallet, he was able to pull out the insurance card. With blurred vision, he read the word “Cobra” on the card. Cobra insurance is the medical insurance provided by employers that goes into effect when one becomes disabled. Holding the card, he watched the card slowly completely disappear in his hand.

After minutes passed taking long, deep breaths, the man opened his eyes relieved to find that his hands were normal, vision clear and the pain in his forehead had gone.

Again on his feet, he glanced at his expensive sweat suit to find it had changed into frayed, dirty clothing covered with holes. Very pleased to physically be feeling better, the man briskly walked toward his apartment. Now at his apartment, he looked down and saw that the sweat suit was again beautiful, new and clean. Reaching for the door of his apartment complex, the man awoke.

The Interpretation Of The Dream Using Each Key Word Walking/Sidewalk in the beginning of the dream represents stability, financial security, success and harmony in the man’s family and workplace. This is a lifestyle of safety, consistency, routine and control over his life and environment.

Older Apartment represents a temporary refuge. Taking into consideration the other events occurring in the dream, the man’s apartment represents change, the unknown, place of waiting, failing health and possible death.

Hands/Crippled/Disfigured Hands represent our ability to work, sustain and provide for ourselves and family. When the man saw his hands change to crippled/disfigured ones represented failing health and financial distress. Watching his hands change from normal hands to disfigured hands represents change in his life and lifestyle will come suddenly and without warning.

Pockets/No Pockets suddenly realizing the sweat shirt had no pockets, but only openings where the pockets had been. He slowly placed his hands into the openings represents he will ignore symptoms of illnesses. Having no pockets also carries the dream meaning that though the man will have some health insurance, his current insurance will not last through the time of illness.

Severe Pain/Forehead/Knees Pain deep in the man’s forehead represented a physical problem, confusion, disbelief and helplessness he felt seeing changes to his body. Years later, he would be told the forehead pain was caused by a benign tumor near his brain; and that over time, if not removed, may cause blindness and death. As the man stared down at his hands, he felt his knees go weak, yet managed to regain his balance. The weakness in his knees represented that though the mind is strong, the body will no longer function as it once had; his hands, other parts of his body and finances will be affected.

Stared/Blurred Vision Fully aware of what was happening to his hands, he began to watch his hands change represents his entire life will be put on hold; his life and level of physical energy will be controlled by what is shown in the dream.

Sat Down/Neighbor’s House/Tree Too weak to stand, the man sits down under a tree near leaves on his neighbor’s lawn. Before closing his eyes, he feels a gentle wind blowing the leaves across the lawn away from him. The tree/leaves represent change. In this dream, the wind represents that most of his material possessions will be taken from him due to illness.

Expensive/Sweat suit/Frayed, Dirty, Holes The expensive sweat suit represents the man’s standard of living. The sweat suit turning frayed and dirty with holes represents the trials and financial hardships he will be suffering as a result of illness.

Wallet/Driver’s License, Money/Medical Insurance Card The man took out his wallet finding his driver’s license and money gone. In the wallet was only his medical insurance card, turning into a Cobra insurance card. The card slowly disappeared representing his medical insurance wouldn’t last for the term of his illnesses. The missing driver’s license represented the man’s identity and self worth would be shattered. The missing money represented suffering financial losses illness would cause him.

Beautiful/Clean/Looking New Unlocking the door of his apartment, he saw his hands healed and the sweat suit again clean and new. This represented that despite health problems, eventually his life would be restored to normal.

The Outcome Of The Dream: Months after having this dream, the man was diagnosed with chronic bilateral carpal tunnel. He had collected unemployment. After a year, he was told his Cobra insurance would end, no longer covering expenses for doctor bills or prescriptions.

Despondent, the day his Cobra insurance ran out, he remembered he was a Vietnam veteran. He immediately went down to the VA Hospital inquiring about eligibility benefits. Within hours, he was approved and VA started covering all his medical expenses.

In regards to the man’s eyesight and the pain in the forehead, doctors at the VA Hospital discovered a tumor between his eyes. Without treatment, blindness and death would likely occur. He was informed of a new research drug that had just been approved; it slows the growth of tumors stabilizing eyesight. In 2005, the VA Hospital excised the tumor.

As of this date, his eyesight is good and he is in fine health. The material belongings the man lost after having the dream have been replenished. The very day his UE benefits ran out, he qualified for Social Security disability benefits, obtaining an unexpected back benefits check for $22K. The dream the man had experienced years earlier had accurately and completely revealed his future, just as he had seen it play in the dream. How Can I Get What I Want In Life?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

It\’s simple when you know the rules, not so simple when you don\’t. If you do learn the rules and you play by them, you are guaranteed what you want in life. If I asked you why you want anything in life, what would you say? You\’d always come to the same conclusion; to feel better than I do at the moment. You may also be coming to realise that unless you can make steady movement towards what you want in life, you will not be joyful.

The bad news is that you can never regress in life and be a happy person. When you have identified something that you want, you have to move towards that goal or you will feel not feel joyful. Life causes you to expand, to want more, to become more than you were before. You may keep up with this expansion and you may not, it is really up to you. Some go along with the expansion willingly, and live happy lives as a result. Others are more reluctant as they feel the tension between their desires and the life they are living, and they inherently know they should be the expanded evolved person they want to be. If you have powerful desires in life, and fail to keep up with them, you may choose to numb out the pain with some kind of behaviour or substance, or you may choose to end the pain and your life, by checking out early.

Others are convinced that because it feels painful to want, that wanting, in and of itself, is somehow wrong. So they try to reduce their desires. This is an uphill struggle, as life in all of its variety is designed to inspire desire from those who participate in it. It is what expansion of life is all about. These people tend to become resentful at those who want and receive, and always feel a certain amount is missing from their lives as they recognise deep down that they are missing the greater part of themselves elsewhere.

On the whole, people don\’t understand how they get what they get in life, and in their feeling of powerlessness they seek to think their way out of it. They strive to control the circumstances around them, creating rules and laws and trying to restrict the behaviour of others. If people were self-empowered, they wouldn\’t feel the need to legislate against anyone else, as they would understand how everything came to them. You can\’t think your way out of it, you have to feel your way

Furthermore, the only way you can ever come into your own power is by letting go of control of the outside world, its people places and things, and look inside yourself instead to seek control of the way you feel. Many great teachers throughout the ages have spoken of unconditional love, and this is what they meant. Unconditional love says \”I will love (feel good) regardless of what the conditions might be. I will be who I really am and love you, even if you are feeling bad and blaming me or my behaviour for the way you feel\”. Conditional love says; \”I will love (feel good) when you behave in a way that pleases me, but if you don\’t please me, I will disapprove of you and feel bad. It is your responsibility to behave in a way that makes me feel good.\” So how can we practice unconditional love? By focussing in a way that makes us feel good. Seeing things in a kind, loving, gentle light, giving people the benefit of the doubt. By knowing that nobody\’s done anything wrong and that all really is well. By demonstrating the loving person that you really are to the world, and feeling the true nature of your being.

The majority are taught at a young age to pay less attention to their own feelings, and pay more attention to the feelings of the adults around them. This ultimately leads to confusion as the individual becomes unable to guide his own life, as he looks outside of himself for the answers, all of which lay inside him all along. The well meaning adults forgot a long time ago how to live unconditional love and felt that changing outside conditions was easier. Regrettably, this leads people away from the only thing of any importance to them; the way they feel, because it determines their point of attraction in this life. But to get to the place where you can control how you feel, you will need to understand your emotions, what they mean and why they are so important.

So what are the rules of the game of life? Let\’s start at the beginning. How does the world relate to you? How do you get what you get in life? How is it that some people are living lives of great abundance and joy, while others seem to struggle to keep their heads above water financially, and have dissatisfying relationships with almost everyone they interact with, even total strangers? Do I need to buy that new radar detector for my car to avoid getting speeding tickets? It life based on luck? Is it a lack of fairness in the system? Should we take things away from people who have \’too much\’ and give it to people who need it? How can we make sense of such a complicated system without going crazy?

There are so many questions. Where to begin? We need to stop thinking, and start feeling the way to go. Emotions are the key to your life\’s guidance, and few understand the power or the incredible subtlety with which they guide. A correct understanding and use of one\’s guidance will lead to your life\’s desire. Before we talk about emotions, we need to consider what causes them, that\’s right folks, it\’s Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction is the manager of all things. All things are vibrational, not just here, but everywhere both physical and non-physical. And it\’s fair to say that if you are going to have a joyful life, you probably would benefit from understanding how it works. Law of Attraction matches up like and like things. The expression \’Birds of a Feather Flock Together\’ is a demonstration of the law. We attract to us things which are of similar essence? But similar in what way?

It you consider your brain as a radio receiver and transmitter, with the ability to tune in to unlimited frequencies. Good feeling happy high flying thoughts have high frequencies and bad feeling, sad, depressing thoughts have low frequencies. When we tune into these frequencies, law of attraction will match us up with the frequency to which we are tuned. Tune to love and see the love in the world. Tune to beauty and see how much beauty there is in the world. Tune to abundance and see the natural abundance in the world. Of course the same goes for the negatives of all of these things, but I wouldn\’t recommend you look for those. It\’s not that these things have been created by your thoughts. They were there all along, it\’s just that you can see them now that you are tuned into their frequency. You have rendez vous\’d with them.

In the real world, how does Law of Attraction work? If I copy successful people, will I become like them, successful? It depends. If the imitation of that person makes you feel like a successful person, then you will eventually achieve success, because law of attraction is only responding to the way you feel. If you act successful and still feel a failure, then the success you seek will continue to elude you until you feel better about your situation. Stop acting, and feel the way you want to feel and let the world respond to your thought vibration.

Four Different Mental States Binaural Beats Can Help You Achieve

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Using binaural beats will allow you to obtain different states of mind rather easily. These various frequencies allow your brain to tune into different states. These states can assist you with a varying number of items, including assisting in positive thinking, focus, learning, relaxing, achieving a state of meditation and many more.

Over the course of time, it has been studied by scientists that different states of mind are related to different frequencies. For example, if you tuned your brain to a frequency of about 9 to 14 Hz (Hertz is the number of changes per minute), this would be associated with a relaxed mental state, or a state where you may be reflecting on something. What binaural beats make it easy to do is to achieve this type of state. Not to mention, getting yourself into the brainwave state you would like to achieve is easy with just a CD or MP3 player.

To get your brain to tune into one of the specific frequencies, different sounds can be administered to each ear. In the case of binaural beats (there are also isochronic and monaural beats, but we\’ll use binaural as the example here), a tone is played in in each ear. One tone may be 100 Hz, the other may be played at 108 Hz. This creates a binaural \”beat\” with the same frequency as the difference of the two (8 Hz). The frequency of 8 Hz corresponds with the theta state of mind which is good for creating ideas.

The frequencies which the binaural beats can target are referred to as theta, beta, alpha and delta states. These four categories each target a different frequency and thus different states of mind. There is a chance you have heard of these states before, and these are commonly referenced when discussing binaural beats.

The first frequency range is within the 13 Hz to 25 Hz range and assists to achieve a feeling of alertness and also helps reduce anxiety and stress. This is the range for beta frequencies.

The second frequency range would be the alpha frequencies. The alpha frequencies are from 8 to 12 Hz. When the binaural beat is delivered in this range, it produces \”superlearning,\” positive thinking, as well as a state of light relaxation.

Theta frequencies occur between 4 Hz to 7 Hz. In this range, a different set of benefits can be found. These benefits will help with deeper relaxation (which makes them good for meditating), improving your memory, and increasing your focus.

Delta frequencies occur at less than 4 Hz. Deep, dreamless sleep, increased immune functions, lucid dreaming and loss of body awareness can occur in this range.

As is clearly shown here, there are a fantastic number of benefits that binaural beats have to offer… And this article doesn\’t cover each one of them either. What is wonderful about them is that they require no practice or experience at all — Just an open mind to get started.

Are you ready to improve your life and are searching for the top rated binaural beat files to use on a CD, PC or MP3 player? Take a look at our brainwave mp3 resources!
