Cringe when we see our dish water dull hair in the mirror now do we? Crave silken hair that glistens instead? Well, there is hope. Because despite whatever type of damaged hair you have, shine can be restored. So don’t be surprised if after you apply these shiny hair ideas you have glossier hair sooner than you’d expect.
Far too often dull hair results from such things as using excessive amounts of styling products resulting in dulling product built up. Too much exposure the sun doesn’t help either. Neither do chemical treatments like coloring or straightening that were done to your hair without the proper conditioning.
When damaged by salt and chlorine, excessive heat or the sun hair tends to become dried out. Fried you might say. The cuticles are likely raised too. And if they fail to lie flat, well, that alone can give you lackluster hair since the light will not be reflected right.
Okay so here are some things to do to impart some shine.
Then there are two words to live by. Well four actually. Proper conditioning and shampooing. Using products that can enhance the shine that have jojoba oil, rice proteins maybe, or olive oil will help. And keep in mind that clarifying shampoo, while it has it place, tends to strip away badly needed moisture for some -which won’t help either.
Remember to pat your hair dry using a microfiber towel rather than terry cloth if possible. Then add a dollop of glossing cream if you have fine strands. While shine serum would be best for those suffering with frizzy hair or who have strands that like to run on the wild side.
When blow drying the idea is to direct the hot air away from your head to keep the ends flat so they reflect light best. The trick is to start at the roots and always point the nozzle of the blow dryer downward, rather than upward or against the shaft.
Oh and while your hair is still warm mist a bit of shine spray on the ends.
Deep condition weekly using a leave in conditioner to strengthen your hair’s cuticles. This will also help them stand up to the cold, dry air, UV rays, and other environmental stresses.
And you’re right. What you’ve suspected all along to be true is. Some lucky girls are born with hair destined to be shinier. I mean isn’t it common sense that stick straight strands are going to best reflect the light? While twisted, curly locks tend not to?
I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief overview of shiny hair remedies. Because we all deserve shiny hair. It’s just that too many of us don’t know what to do to get it. At least not without breaking the bank or enduring some time consuming bathroom routine each morning.
