I Used Martial Arts To Cut Open His Chest…And Found The Real Me.

I had been studying the martial arts for over twenty years when this incident happened. I had studied Parker’s Chinese Kenpo and Kwon Bop Korean Karate, Wing Chun and Aikido, and lots of other combat disciplines. I was working in a door factory at the time, and some of the fellows I worked with knew that I was a martial arts fanatic.

One lunchtime, one of my coworkers asked me to show him some martial arts. We went into a room at the rear of the factory. It was hard to see and quite noisy, and we had to really concentrate to hear each other.

I was showing him basic suburito sword exercises, which are Aikido sword fighting drills. I was showing him how to stand the right way, and how to hold the sword straight up in a ready position. Suddenly, I felt a huge force take hold of my body; it was like I had been grabbed by the hand of a 100 foot tall giant.

I couldn’t stop the sword, and it sliced down behind me. A guy named Eddie had been sneaking up, and the sword cut through his shirt and into his chest. It was a ragged slice, blood poured out, and he staggered back against a stack of pallets and grabbed at his chest.

It was time for first aid, and Eddie was going to have to go to the hospital and get his chest sewn back together. While we were standing there, trying to stop the blood, I asked Eddie, “What were you doing?” He looked up at me and said, “I was going to get you, man.

I was going to grab you. It was just a joke, I thought it would be funny.” Sensing something under his words, I asked him, “What were you thinking, right when it happened?”

He said, “I thought I was going to get you. Right when I was jumping I thought, ‘Aha…got him!’ And then you cut me!”

The flesh is nothing but a fence, and the eyes and ears are like searchlights that observe what goes on outside the fence. With the martial arts you start moving energy inside the fence, and you start to become more aware as to what is going on around you. Eventually you see outside the fence of your flesh. You learn how to see without even using the eyes and ears.

And, you learn that you are more than just a body, you are a spiritual being more than 100 feet tall. What I am saying here is that whether you study tae kwon do or Aikido, Gung Fu like Wing Chun, or something else, the answers are there, the martial arts can help you find the real you. You just need to dedicate yourself to working out, and in an art that is logical and efficient.

This Korean Karate trick is one of the simplest and most deadly moves you will ever find. As simple as it is, it requires exquisite timing, and a number of little bits and pieces of which I am about to tell you. Understanding these fine points, and working on the thing a bit, and you are going to have one of the most powerful punches in your martial arts arsenal.

I discovered this trick in the form which is sometimes called Heian Five, it happens right after you execute a crescent kick and low block. You are now standing in a horse stance, and you swing the right arm across the body to cover the left side of the body with a palm block. You can perform this technique exactly as it is in the form, and it will work with plenty of power. But there are ways to to develop even more power, and to make it even more functional. And we want more functional, because we want to make this technique so smooth that we can use it in street situations.

Have your partner stand in front of you, handshake apart. Have him step forward with his right leg and punch to your face with his right hand. You step back with your left foot into a back stance as you do a palm block with your left hand, this causes your partner’s right hand to pass in front of you, and this sets up his body for the counterpunch.

To counter, turn your body and feet into a horse stance as you perform a right punch to his ribcage. Now, this has got to be done quick and sharp, and you have to drop your weight and snap those hips, and you are going to find that this technique, if executed correctly, is going to smash his ribs to splinters. In addition, if you happen to use a little precision, and this will happen naturally over time, you can stick your fingers directly into his armpit.

The point that must be remembered is that you must have perfect CBM, Coordinated Body Motion. This means that all parts of the body move at the same time and in harmony. Thus, you strike with a couple of hundred pounds of body weight (assuming you weigh a couple of hundred pounds), and not twenty pounds of arm weight.

In addition, you must set the stance at the exact and correct distance so that your arm is nearly straightened out, only has a couple of inches to extend, when you make contact. If you decide to use the fingers, go slower, and add fingertip push ups to your work outs. If you decide to go deep, you can set your legs so that your punched out arm can sweep him over your horse.

I always found this to be an intoxicating trick, quick and easy, and I love the feeling of moving in quick and light and then dropped the deep power into the last snap of the fist.
